MY GOAL:

My goal this year, as your child's teacher, is to create a learning environment that is positive, exciting, fun, and safe. I believe in making the students active participants in their learning, and to create a student-centered learning environment as opposed to a teacher-centered one. I will focus on building their minds, spirits, and character. We will focus throughout the year on responsiblity, respect, friendship, caring, acceptance, and faith. I hope to foster student involvement and cooperation in all classroom activities, and to establish a productive working environment. My ultimate hope is that everyone will succeed in his or her own way, and leave through the door at the end of the year, pleased with what they have accomplished. I love this quote, and think it describes my goals pretty well:

“I hope you come to find

That which gives life

A deep meaning for you.

Something worth living for,

Maybe even worth dying for.

Something that energizes you,

Enthuses you, enables you

To keep moving ahead.

I can’t tell you what it might be

That’s for you to find, to choose, to love.

I can just encourage you

To start looking,

And support you in the search.” (Ita Ford)

BIRTHDAYS:

Every student looks forward to celebrating their birthday at school with their friends. I encourage birthday celebrations in our room. Please feel free to bring in a treat on your child's birthday. You may drop it off at any point in the day that is convenient for you. We will set aside the last 15 minutes of the day to celebrate with your child. Please note: IF YOU BRING IN A COOKIE CAKE, PLEASE HAVE IT PRE-CUT BEFORE DROPPING IT OFF AT SCHOOL! THANK YOU! I will update you with any peanut allergies we may have after I receive our final class list. If your child's birthday is on a weekend or during the Summer, please contact me so that we can set up a date to celebrate with them at school.

 PORTFOLIOS:

I will be keeping a personal portfolio for each student in my class. These portfolios will be used to store important assessments, writing samples, and conference notes from individual student/teacher conferences that I will be conducting throughout the year. This will help me to track their individual growth and progress so that I can share it with you and your child. It will enable me to pinpoint areas of strength, as well as areas in which there is improvement to be made.

PARENT READERS:

There will be an opportunity each week for parents to come read to the class. This is such a neat tradition at Immacolata, and I highly encourage you to sign up for at least one week during the year. The students absolutely LOVE this time during the week, and take alot of pride in their parent visiting their room. Please contact the room parent with a week that works for you. As soon as I get our specials schedule for the year, I will select a day of the week that works best with our schedule. Thank you for staying so involved in our room!

HOLIDAYS:

The following Holidays will be celebrated in our classroom:
  • Halloween
  • Christmas
  • Valentines Day
Please coordinate with the Room Parent to volunteer for one of these classroom parties if you can. Thank you so much for making these celebrations possible!
