We are a Roman Catholic Parish in the Archdiocese of St. Louis
Mrs. Tedford - Class InformationHomework There will be homework every night except for Friday. The homework will consist of a math and reading workbook page and study spelling words. The spelling tests are always on a Friday (Thursday if we are off on a Friday). Every once in a while there will be a book report or other project that needs to be completed at home. Religion will only have homework if there is a test to study for. Homework is always due the next day unless other wise noted. If a student does not turn in their homework they will need to stay in at recess to complete it. Folders
The students will have a homework folder to take home each night with the assignments in it. At the beginning of each week I will type up the assignments and the spelling words and put that sheet in their homework folder. The assignments and spelling words can also be found on the front page of the web site. There is no need to have an assignment notebook in second grade. If there is any graded work it will go home in this folder as well and can be taken out and kept at home. On Fridays this folder will go home with re-do work in it. If a student receives a 70% or lower on an assignment they can re-do it. It needs to be completed over the weekend and turned in on Monday. A quick note about behavior (negative or positive) will go home on Fridays too. This does not need to be signed.
Behavior I expect that all children will follow the rules posted in the classroom and treat everyone with respect and act in a Christian like manner. If a child breaks a rule the parents will be notified on the behavior note on Fridays or by email. If problems persist in the classroom we will schedule parent/teacher/student meetings and/or the student will be sent to the office.
Rewards- The students are able to have lunch in the classroom on Fridays as a reward for good behavior. They will eat in the room and watch a movie during lunch. If behavior was a problem for a majority of the class in a given week, lunch in the room will be canceled.
Extras Birthdays are celebrated on the child's birthday or the Friday before if it's on Saturday or Sunday. Summer birthdays are celebrated at the end of the year. You may bring a treat for the whole class. Please be mindful that we are a PEANUT and TREENUT FREE CLASSROOM! Please bring an appropriate birthday treat. There are 15 students in our class.
Student of the Week Each student will get to be student of the week at some point this year. This does not happen each week. They are spaced out throughout the whole year. When a child is student of the week they get to... 1. make a poster all about themselves to share with the class and then it hangs in the classroom all week 2. bring one thing each day for show and tell 3. take home the class turtle (beanie baby) for the week 4, one day they get to sit at my desk and be "teacher" for the day 5. pick the jobs and give themselves any job they want. 6. a piece of their favorite candy on Friday. 7. The students will make a book about the student of the week telling one nice thing about them and drawing a picture of the student. This will be laminated and sent home.
