Ms. Burkard - Science
Science “It is through science that we prove, but through intuition that we discover.” -Jules H. Poincare
Seventh grade focuses on Earth Science, beginning with the ground under our feet made of rocks and minerals. From there we move to the layers of the atmosphere around us. We sit with this for a good chunk of the year studying wind, whether, and climate. We end earth science talking about earthquakes and volcanoes. Any remaining time we have we finish strong with astronomy; if we don't get to this we will begin in the eighth grade where we left off.
Eighth grade was not able to finish astronomy last year so we will begin there and then jump into physical science with some chemistry. We begin by understanding just what chemistry means, then quickly we move into the elements on the periodic table, continuing to move into states of matter and physical and chemical changes. We then move into physics and study Newton and his laws and continue with motion, force and energy. We will end with a little bit about sound, light and colors. |
