Wednesday Envelope - August 20, 2008

Where did the summer go?  That new building is coming along just as quickly.  Wow!  Welcome to the year’s first Make A Note.  The information started coming in last week, so I guess it is going to be a very busy school year.  Same rules apply as last year.  Make A Note is a BRIEF note about events/info that affects the school community at large.  Please call or e-mail your info by Monday evening at the latest and include when, where, why, grade and a contact name and phone number or e-mail (remember, not everyone has a PC).  My e-mail and phone number on are the bottom of every Make A Note as well as in the Buzz Book.  Above all, I am only as good as the information I receive so please make sure your note is complete.  Having given the disclaimers, let’s see what’s on the agenda this first week of school.

We have so many new faces and not just students!  Please give a warm welcome to the new staff:  Ms Ricki Giancola (Kindergarten),  Ms. Ann Pickel (Gr. 2), Ms. Stephanie Noss (Gr. 3) , Ms. Carol Burkard (Gr. 6-8th  Math & Science), Ms. Kim Spiroff, (Gr. 6-8, English &  6th Gr. Religion),  Ms. Fran Johans, (Gr. 6-8th Social Studies & Gr. 7-8 Religion), and Mr. Jeff Menke (PE K-8) and Ms. Kim Frank (Teacher Aide).  We look forward to getting to know them.

Congratulations to the Boys 7th Gr. Baseball for claiming victory of the CYC Championship.  Also congratulations are in order for the Boys 8th Gr. Baseball who lost a very close game in their CYC Championship game.  You are all champions for the school.

Please remember to fill out and return the emergency form in today’s envelope and return it to the office.

Any 5th, 6th, 7th or 8th Grade students who would like to learn how to serve both on Sunday and weekday Masses are invited to come to server practices which will be held next week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, August 25, 27 and 28, from 3:15-4:30 p.m.

The 2008-09 school roster is in print-ready form and will be sent home next week.  Please notify the school office of any change of address or phone number during the summer.  If your email address used on TeacherEase has changed, please notify us as well by emailing school@immacolata.org.

Back to Business.  Hot Lunch begins Tues, Sept. 2 and orders should have been received by now.  If for some reason, you did receive Hot Lunch information, go directly to www.immmacolata.org and place your order.  The absolute firm deadline is tomorrow, Thu, Aug. 21 and all money is due in the school office by Fri, Aug. 22.  See the enclosed info sheet for directions on ordering.  If you have any questions, call Missy Bax (420-4857) or Kate Gough (505-5708).

Along those same lines, milk money is due.  $20/child will buy you a ½ pint carton with lunches for the year.  Make your check out to Immacolata and send in to the school office.  Milk does a body good.

Come see the latest in children’s books!  The Immacolata Book Fair begins with Back to School Night, Thu., Aug. 28.  The Book Fair continues on Fri, Aug. 29 and ends at 11AM (after 9:30AM Mass) on Sun, Aug. 31.  Volunteers needed for cash registers, restock & customer assistance.  Call Susie Lawlor (995-7062) or Carol Essma (994-3180) for more info.

Don’t forget to get all your shopping needs and give back to the school through the Blue Bag Ladies, headed by Wendy McGowan (997-2374).  Please remember they have given much to the Immacolata community (such as the playground) through this easy fundraiser.

Come one, come all 3-8th Gr. to join in the Immacolata School Choir.  No auditions, just a desire to raise your voice and sing!  Rehearsals start Wed, Sept. 10 from 3:15-4PM in the church.  Contact Mr. Krausz (991-5700 x323) for more info.

Last, but not least, please form 3 lines at pick up so that traffic does not back up onto Clayton Rd. This is of particular importance to those coming from the east.  Be sure to be careful around our little angels!

As most of you are aware, Mrs. Concetta Latragna, the mother of Mr. Sam Latragna, passed away during the summer.  I thank faculty, parents and students who were able to visit the family at the funeral home or participate at the funeral Mass or offer prayers for the repose of her soul.  Many of you offered a memorial gift to the Immacolata Capital Campaign ‘Forward in Faith’ as well.  I appreciate all that each of you did.  May God grant her eternal rest.
