I is for igloo and insect!


Please complete three activities.  Circle the items you have chosen and return your work on Friday.

1.  Time how long it takes one ice cube to melt.  Record your time.

2.  Draw a icture of your favorite invention.  Tell us who invented  it.  If you are stuck, call your reference librarian for help.

3.  Build an igloo (out of sugar cubes, styrofoam, etc.).  Who lives in an igloo?  Print your answer and bring your model to school.

4.  Print a list of six words that begin with the short i sound.

5.  Imagine youare an insect.  What kind are you?  Draw a picture of yourself and print the answers to the questions.

6.  List three things that make you itch.

7.  Take an inventory of your silverware drawer.  How many spoons, forks and knives do you have? Print the numerals and the number words.

Bb is for bones, bugs, bears, bats and birds!


Choose three or four things from this list and complete for homework.  Your work should be turned in by Friday.  Remember to have fun!

1.  Color, cut out and put together Mr. Bones. (Please let me know if you need another copy.)

2.  Find or draw a picture of a bug.  Write two sentences that will help up learn about your bug.

3.  Write down a list of four things that drive you batty.

4.  Bring in your favorite bear book to share with the class.

5.  Count all of the birds you see on your way to school one morning.  Write down the numeral and the number word.  

6.  Read a story about a bat.  Write down one fact you learned from your reading.

3.  Highlight all the z's on this page.

4.  Eat some zucchini.  Write a sentence describing how it tasted!

5.  Count the zippers in your closet.  Write the numeral and the number word.

6.  Look up the word zucchetto in the dictionary.  Sdk a grown up to read and explain the definition.  Write one thing you learned about a zucchetto.

7.  Look at a map of Africa.  Color Zambia yellow, Zaire green, and Zimbabwe red.

Pp is for pumpkin, popcorn and pizza!


 

For homework, please complete three of the following choices.  Return this sheet with your homework on Friday.

 

1.  Write a postcard to a friend or relative who lives out of town.  Put a stamp on it and we'll mail it in our school mailbox when we take our walk!  

2.  Count the pictures and painting hanging on the walls of your house.  Write the number word, the numeral and tell us if it is an odd or even number.  Print two words that describe your favorite picture or painting.

3.  Who do think would make a good President for our country? It could be one of the men running for President, someone in your family, or a famous person. Draw a picture of this person and print their name.

 4.  Describe your favorite pizza.  Answer these questions:  Who makes it?  What shape are its slices? What toppings are on it?


 

October 20 - 23


We are still working on the letter Aa (short and long sounds).  We are also studying Nursery Rhymes.  I sent home a sheet for homework.  Please let me know if you have not received it.


 

October 13 - 17



Astounding Aa's!   Please choose two different  activities and do them this week.  Have fun!

 1.  Eat an apple.  Count the seeds.  Write down that numeral and print the number word.  For example:5 five

 2.  Print three or four words that have the letter cluster --ant in them.  For example: plant.  Draw a picture of one of your words.

3.  List three fruits or vegetable that begin with the short a sound.  Draw a picture of these fruits or vegetables.

4.   Print your address.  Remember to use upper and lower case  letters!

5.  Find Alaska on a map.  Draw its shape and write its name.


October 6 - 10



 Please look at the request at the bottom of this page.  Complete three or more activities.  Circle your choices and return this sheet with your homework by Friday.

 

1.  List four things that make you happy.

2.  Draw a picture of Mr. H.  Draw lots of hair and a crazy hat.

3.  Taste honey.  List three words to describe how it tastes.

4.  Find two pictures of things that begin with the "h" sound.  Glue them on a piece of paper and write their names.

5.  Count the steps it takes to walk around the outside of your house.  Write the numeral and number word.  (for example: 57, fifty seven)

6.  Using a highlighter, highlight all the h's on this sheet.

 EVERYONE....Please bring a SMALL pumpkin between the sizes of a grapefruit to a football.

Please do number one.  Then pick two more  of these  activities and complete them all by Thursday.  Circle the items you have chosen and return this paper with the activities.

 1.  List four nice things that you do this week.

2.  Cut out nineteen Nn's and glue them to a piece of paper.

3.  Cook noodles for dinner.  Write down three words to describe what you saw while they were cooking.

4.  Write down a sentence telling us something that is fun to do at night.

5.  Print nineteen uppercase and nineteen lowercase Nn's as neatly as you can.

6.  Draw a picture of what you will be wearing Halloween night.

 



 

 

September 22 - 26

Ff is for Funny Footprints!



Complete three of these activities.  Circle the number in front of your choices.  Return your homework and this cover sheet by Friday.  Have fun!

1.  Trace your footprints.  Decorate them to look like funny feet.

2.  Fill a sink or your tub with water.  Find two things that will float and two things that will sink.  Write down their names.

3.  Make a fun flag.

4.  Tell us how to fix something when it is broken.

5.  Describe to our class your family's plan if there is an emergency in your home.  How will you exit and where will you meet your Mom and Dad?  Ask your Mom and Dad to show you the smoke detector that is closest to your bedroom.  Draw a picture to show us what it looks like.  Do you know how it works?

 6.  Find pictures of four things that fly.  Glue them to a piece of paper and print their names.



 

September 15th - 19th

Totally Terrific T's


Please choose three or more activities for homework this week. Circle your choices and return them with this sheet by Friday.

1. Tie your tennis shoes ten times.

2. Find a picture of a tiger in a magazine. Tape it on a piece of paper. Print the word "tiger" two times.

3. Make Tootsie Rolls! (recipe below)

4. Tear out ten "t's" from a magazine and tape them to a piece of paper.

5. Print twenty "2's" neatly.

Tootsie Rolls

2 tablespoons soft butter

1/2 cup light Karo Syrup

2 squares unsweetened chocolate-melted

1 teaspoon vanilla

3 cups powdered sugar - sifted

3/4 cup powdered milk

Put all of the ingredients into a double plastic bag and close tightly.

Squeeze until well mixed.

Roll into balls.

Place on wax paper and chill in refrigerator.

Enjoy!


 

September 2nd - 12th

Mm is for Monkey, Mask and Macaroni


Choose three activities. Circle your choices and return this sheet with your work by Friday, Sept. 12th. We will study Mm for 2 weeks.

Please staple, paper clip or place items in a zip lock bag so they do not get misplaced. Having your child's name on each item helps.

 

1. Make macaroni for your family. Cut off the front of the box and put it in your folder.

2. Cut out 15 M's from a magazine. Glue them on a piece of paper.

3. Count the number of M&M's in a bag. Write that number on a piece of paper. Bring in the bag for our graph.

4. Memorize your address and phone number.

5. Make a mask using many objects and colors.

6. Mix a mound of mashed potatoes. Write down three words to describe your mound.

FIRST HOMEWORK

There are two things to do for homework this week.

1. Draw a picture of your family and any that you have on the attached paper. Lable your artwork with the corresponding names (for ex. Mom, Dad, etc.).

2. Please bring an apple to school on Friday. We will use it for Math class.
