Whew! Our first week of school is under our belts.  I don’t think we’ve made the full adjustment at our house yet.

Along those lines to help us put it all together is Back to School Night this Thursday, Aug. 28, starting in the gym at 7PM, then continuing in the classrooms and finally ending at the Immacolata Book Fair.  You can meet the teachers and then get your reading list books at the Book Fair.  You may begin visiting the Book Fair at 6:30 p.m. so that the meeting will begin at 7:00.  The Book Fair will continue on Fri, Aug. 29 and Sun, Aug. 30 after 9:30AM Mass and ending at 11AM. Come spark your kid’s imagination and help the school.  It’s so easy!  Call Susie Lawlor (995-7062) or Carol Essma (994-3180) if you have questions.

WANTED:  VOLUNTEERS!  Volunteers needed for Dismissal on every Fri, the 5th Mon, Wed, & Thur.  Now is your chance to play traffic cop!  Also, Hot Lunch has openings for the 3rd Thurs, 4th Fri & 5th Mon.  Come meet the kids up close & personal (and your kid loves when you do this).  The Hospitality Committee only has 2 volunteer for the entire year!  These opportunities require little time and you benefit greatly from the people you get to know.  Call Lisa Mullen (962-2453) and Megan Browdy (962-3038) to help out.  Giving of your time is also treasure.

A new event is here!  Fundraiser Fridays will get the school kids working on raising money for their new playground.  Each Friday, a different class will sponsor a different fundraiser.  This Friday, Aug. 29, the 1st Gr. will sponsor Mizzou-Illini Day. $1 will buy you the privilege of wearing your favorite team’s colors/jerseys.  Call Shawn Adelmann (shaadelma@aol.com) & Ronni Gioia.  Hmm, which team will have the most colors worn?

Sally Foster.  What a great way to give to the school.  The gift wrap gives 50% and the cookies, and magazines give 40% to the school.  Best deal in town.  On top of that, the top 3 sellers receive $25 cash award and the class with the most participation has Free Dress Day, compliments of our esteemed Mr. Latragna.  Please remember to make a copy of your order so that you have it handy when your order comes in.  Contact Debbie Tonn (989-9814) or Izabel Genovese (989-1661) for questions.

At Back to School Night, stop by and see Mr. Krausz.  He would love to have your kids in the Immacolata School Choir and/or the Cantor Team.  Choir Rehearsals begin Wed, Sept. 10 from 3:15-4PM in the church for Gr. 3-8.  He can tell you all about furthering your child’s musical education.  Call Mr. Krausz (991-5700 x323) if you can’t make it to Back to School Night.

Those Immacolata Cub Scouts are looking for a few good boys.  If you are interested, come to the Cub Scout Night Thurs, Sept. 4 at 7PM in the Cafeteria.  Boys, K-5th Gr., are eligible.  Boys and parents should have a fun time that night.  Contact Dave Gruenbacher at daveg@AdGeo.com or314-336-3203.

Those Blue Bag Ladies are hard at work!  You can get Gift Certificates (for gifts or everyday—like BreadCo or Schnucks) at pick up.  There are way too many businesses to list here.  This is the easiest fundraiser ever!  And they, with your generosity & thoughtfulness, have given so much to the school.  So please, take advantage of this service.  Wendy McGowan (997-2374) is the person to call for questions.
