Wednesday Envelope - September 24, 2008

I know it is a beautiful day so send the kids outside during this week of light, if any, homework, get a cup of tea, and read Make A Note in a comfortable chair in the backyard.  Be sure to take your calendar; there is quite a bit of info this week.

Dear 8th Grade and to all at Immacolata School,
Hello Everyone!   I wanted to thank everyone, especially the 8th Grade for your wonderful generosity from your recent Book Fair.  I am very happy to accept the gift of being able to purchase books for our library at Blessed Teresa.  New books have always been one of my favorite things.

I hope your school year is off to a great start.  I love Blessed Teresa – my new school home; but, as you know, I will always miss everyone at Immacolata.  I hope to stop in for a visit soon.  I am looking forward to seeing all of you and the new school addition!  I know the 8th Grade will make everyone very proud this year.

Thank you all so much.  Study hard and have a great year!

                                                                                                             Mrs. Stutsman

Congratulations to the 2nd Gr. boys who claimed victory in the St. Ann’s Soccer Tournament. Chris Petersen & David Hanon coached the boys through double overtime to a 5-4 win in sudden death!  Teamwork & good sportsmanship were practiced and noted by the team.

Standardized Testing is in progress!  Keep those bedtimes and good food as part of the daily routine!  Enjoy the lighter homework load by getting some after-school exercise outside!

Be sure to get your Cub Scout to the Raingutter Regatta tomorrow, Sept. 25 at 6: 30 in the cafeteria.  All the meetings are fun, but this one is a ton of fun for big and little guys.  Call Dave Gruenbacher (726-7939) for more info.

The 08-09 Volunteer Schedule for Lunch, Recess & Dismissal is all now online at www.immacolata.org/school/volunteer . Check it out and see when you are coming in to help.  The kids only ACT like they are embarrassed.  They are secretly (or not so secretly) proud of you.  Also, check if you are compliant with Archdiocesan guidelines, please call Cheryl (991-5700 x312) in the parish office for your status.

The Walk for Children is this Sat, Sept. 27 at 9AM at Cricket Field in Forest Park.  This is a family friendly event with many activities.  There is still time to sign up for Team Immacolata at www.children-cancer.org in the walk section.  The school will have a free dress day and the class that walks the most miles will receive an ice cream party in Oct.  This fundraiser provides financial assistance to children with cancer and their families.  Call Jill Metherd (446-5220) for questions.

All you Junior Achievement Volunteers will have a meeting on Thurs, Oct. 2 at 8: 30 AM in the cafeteria.  Program information will be discussed and teaching materials will be handed out.  This is the only meeting scheduled.  Call Kathy Grearson (968-6335) or Nancy Tice (918-9201).  These volunteers are teaching our little angels to be the Bill Gates of tomorrow!

Basketball Registration is already upon us!  Registration for the 08-09 season will be Thurs, Oct. 2 from 6-9PM in the Computer Lab.  Enter through the cafeteria door across from the field in the back of the school.  All kids in Gr. 3-8 are welcome.  The cost is $60/child unless you have the IAA Family Pass. A late fee of $25 will be charged if you register after Oct. 2.  For questions or if you are unable to attend the registration, contact Steve Mattingly at sjm@misselaine.com or (997-1744).            Ladies, Christ is calling you!  The women’s Christ Renews His Parish Retreat is Oct. 11-12.  We still have places for willing participants.  Prayerfully consider answering “yes” to this call.  For more info, call Betty Rataj (727-4827).
