Whew!  Standardized testing is over.  I tried to get Mr. Latragna to ban homework, and he said it was interesting concept.  I don’t think it will happen.  It’s better than thinking about Wall Street, though.           

Tomorrow, Thurs, Oct. 2, the Junior Achievement volunteers will meet at 8:30AM in the cafeteria.  Information about the program will be discussed and teaching materials will be handed out.  Call Kathy Grearson (968-6335) or Nancy Tice (918-9201) if you have questions.  Thank you to all the volunteers for taking the time to acquaint our little geniuses with the business world.           

Also tomorrow, Thurs, Oct. 2 is Basketball Registration for 2008-2009 in the Computer Lab on the bottom floor of the school from 6-9PM.  All kids in Gr. 3-8 are eligible.  Cost is $60/child unless you are in the Family Pass Program.  $50 will be charged for late registration.  For questions or if you are unable to attend the registration, contact Steve Mattingly at sjm@misselaine.com or (997-1744)

Life Chain 2008 is a silent witness to defending life.  Please join the chain this Sun, Oct. 5 in front of the church along Clayton Rd from 2-3PM.  Signs will be provided.  Bring a lawn chair if needed.  Come for the hour or any part of the hour.  All are welcome for this show of support.  Call Liz Gruenbacher (729-7939) for any questions.

Don’t forget, this coming Tues, Oct. 7 join our Second Graders and their teachers for a fundraiser for the new playground  - Immacolata Night at McDonalds from 4-7PM at the McD’s on 9815 Manchester Rd (near Rock Hill).  A portion of every sale will go to the Immacolata Playground.  Even Mr. Latragna will be there!  Thank those smart 2^nd Graders for this fun event! Time is marching on so remember to buy Reverse Raffle ticket(s).  Ticket cost $120 each or 3 for $300.  A purchase includes a fun evening full of music, dancing, friends, and a chance to win $5000 on Sat, Nov. 8 in the Immacolata gym.  The fun begins at 7PM and the raffle begins at 8PM with the final drawing at 10:30PM.  Only 400 tickets will be sold.  All proceeds to benefit the “Forward in Faith” Capital Campaign.  You find order forms in the back of the church.  Party!             

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Please note that there will be NO SCHOOL this Fri, Oct. 3 because of a Faculty Day of Retreat.  Those teachers need a break from all that Standardized Testing review and proctoring!           

ATTENTION:  Sorry ladies, gents & kids, Field Day will NOT be Fri, Oct. 1.  It is postponed until March.           

UNFORTUNATE: During recent construction near the playground, the windows of  a contractor’s truck were shot out by a bb gun.  This type of vandalism is very upsetting and costly, but we mention this so to you, also, so that all may remain watchful to keep our little ones safe.
