Wednesday Envelope - October 15, 2008

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

Well, it is official.  We are now out of the summer uniform dress code and into the winter dress code.  Still seems a little warm, doesn’t it?  I feel a little sorry for the boys, but I know they are tough.  Please see the handbook for code specifics.

Thanks to all those who made the 2nd Gr. fundraiser such a success at McDonald’s last Tuesday!  Thanks to your generosity and McDonald’s, they raised $822.06!  I think I might need to use them when I need a little extra cash!  Seriously, thanks to everyone for their support.

Nov. Hot Lunch Orders and money are due day after tomorrow, Fri, Oct. 17.  Don’t forget!  The reality check is the Thanksgiving Holiday you see on this menu.  Only 6 weeks until holiday season! Call Missy Bax (420-4857) or Kate Gough (505-5708) if you need help (with lunch, not the holiday season).

Sign-ups for the Parent/Teacher Conferences are in full swing.  You can call Kim Gaskell in the office (991-5700 x302) or stop in and see the new office in the new addition.  It is very nice!  Kim will make it even nicer with all her own little additions.   Parent/Teacher Conferences are next week on Thurs, Oct. 23 from 1-4:30PM & 5:30-9PM.  Time to talk about those little academic angels! Please note that free babysitting is available during the afternoon only in the gym by the 5th Gr. Girl Scouts.  Donations for the new playground are accepted.  Call Mary Noel Donovan (983-0717) if you have questions about babysitting.  Don’t forget they have Fri, Oct. 24 off—NO CLASSES!

Don’t forget to buy extra candy for the Trunk or Treat Tailgate on Fri, Oct. 24! Music and fun is abundant in this little event.  Come and cheer on the 6th Gr. boys in Volleyball at 7:45PM in the gym that night as well. Fun! Fun1 Fun!

Have you purchased your Reverse Raffle ticket(s) yet?  Only 400 tickets will be sold for this parish event.  You’d better get moving.  Better yet, get your class, friends, neighbors, breakfast club, etc. to pitch in and buy several.  Tickets are $120 each or 3/$300 for a chance to win $5000, $1500, or $500.  In addition, you get dancing and a chance to party with old and new friends.  The doors open at 7PM, Sat, Nov. 8 in the Immacolata gym.  Send in your money and forms to the Rectory, or through the Wed, envelope, or mail to Sarah Westfall at 9401 Sonora, St. Louis, Mo 63144. Questions, contact Mark Guyol (mark.guyol@gmail.com).

Ladies, how about an evening away from the kids and the other half?  Yes, an event is waiting for just us girls with Advent By Candlelight on Sun, Dec. 7 from 7-9:30PM in the gym.  Hostesses need to sign up now with Mary Rhodes (domermary-advent@yahoo.com ) for this lovely event.  You can let those creative ideas come to life as you and your friends host a table together.  Just for the ladies.

. *Something to think about:  In 1907, the average wage in the U.S. was $0.22/hr and a phone call from Denver to New York City cost $11.  Makes our economy look a little better, doesn’t it?
