Wednesday Envelope - November 5, 2008

Wednesday, November 5, 2008

I hope we all took advantage of our privilege to vote yesterday.  I won’t miss all the speeches or media, but it sure led to some interesting discussions around the dinner table.  It is funny to hear the kids repeat what the other kids said in school.  It makes you wonder what your kid heard at home and then repeated at school.

Well, we all know about the Reverse Raffle, thanks to the dedication of Mark Guyol and committee.   The “Forward in Faith” campaign is still in need of money, even though that beautiful addition is already in use.  However, this is one of the most fun fundraisers ever!  There is music, dancing, laughter, fellowship and now, there will be a silent auction! Come to the gym this Sat, Nov. 8 at 7PM and bid on 4 very special items:  1) your own pew for 4PM Christmas Eve Mass or 2) your own pew for 6PM Christmas Eve Mass, 3) your own 1st in line parking spot in the carpool line, and 4) 1st row seating at the Christmas Program on Thurs, Dec. 4. In addition, you can sign up for the Winter Wonderland Party!  Details are included in the Wed. Envelope. All this is in addition to the chance to win $500, $1500, or $5,000.   Four hundred tickets will be sold and there are still plenty of tickets available. Make checks out to Immacolata and then drop off at the new school office, the rectory or DROP OFF at Sarah Westfall’s home, 9401 Sonora Ave, St. Louis, MO 63144.   Contact Mark Guyol at mark.guyo@gmail.com if you have questions.  You need to buy your ticket(s) NOW and then come and enjoy the fun.  Your ticket could be the winning one!

Beginning tomorrow, we may again begin using the exit lane around the back of school near the soccer field.  There may be a few more days in the future where we will be rerouted, but for now we can return to our old way of exiting.  We will continue to use the cafeteria door near the garage for morning drop-off and for dismissal (safer to park and come in school).  Our children will use the back first-floor door to the school during the day.  Using the back exit allows use of the fast lane again (a row of cars along the soccer field).  Cars using the fast lane arrive early and park up to the edge of the playground area.  Cars in the fast lane are able to leave before the 3:14 final dismissal bell.  Proper use of the fast lane assures that all cars will park comfortably on our lot.

Mark the calendar:  The Immacolata Athletic Association has an open meeting on Tues, Nov. 18 at 7PM in the cafeteria.  All adults are welcome to come.  Questions, call Michelle Unterberg (961-8581).

Mark the Date:  Christmas Breakfast (formerly known as Breakfast with Santa) is on Sun, Dec.14 after 9:30AM Mass, hosted by the 6th grade.  All 6th Gr. parents are asked to attend the Christmas Breakfast meeting next Thurs, Nov. 13 at 8AM in the cafeteria. Contact Julie Wagner (863-8664) or Mary Corrigan (991-3359) for further information.
