Wednesday Envelope - November 12, 2008

I would say things are pretty quiet at the moment in the Immacolata community, but that is deceptive.  The end of soccer/volleyball season is here for most, but not all and it is only the quiet before the rush of holidays.  So grab a cup of cocoa and sit down to find out what is coming up.

First, congratulations to the Welges for their good luck in winning the $5000 at the Reverse Raffle.  We all know Mark Guyol needs those 12 steps to overcome that e-mail addiction.  To be fair, it only happens every couple of years (We all like you, Mark, really!).  Thanks to Mark Guyol for organizing and implementing such a fun event.  Anyway, a huge Thanks to all those who bought tickets to the Reverse Raffle and made it the wonderful success it was, especially those who bought multiple tickets, multiple times to meet the goal of 400 tickets.  Did anyone tape John Lally doing his Elaine Benes impersonation?  I heard it was perfect!

Picture Retakes are tomorrow for anyone requesting a retake (previous complete packet must be returned).  Any student who was absent for the September Picture Day may also have their picture taken.  Free Dress for those being photographed.             Soccer season is not over!   The 8th Gr. Girls and Coach Jed are off to the south central district playoffs this Fri, Nov. 12 to play against St. Peters at 8PM at Memorial Field.  Come cheer on those hard playing athletes!   If they win they go on to the city/county playoffs.

In addition, the 6th Gr. Boys and Coach Hansen will be going on to volleyball playoffs this year.  This team is only 2 years old and only has 7 players.  They have shown remarkable fortitude.  We wish them luck!

Sixth Gr. parents, remember you have a Christmas Breakfast meeting tomorrow, Nov. 13 at 8AM in the cafeteria to help decide who needs to do what.  If you can’t make the meeting, contact Julie Wagner (863-8664) or Mary Corrigan (991-3359) and they will get you up to speed on your participation.

Don’t forget to fill out those lunch menus and send in your money by this Fri, Nov. 14!  Those silly tech problems have luckily been resolved.  Computers are so fickle, for all their artificial intelligence.   Call Missy Bax (567-5039) if you have questions.  She is so grateful for everyone’s cooperation in meeting the deadlines!

Guess what?  The answer to all that holiday cookie baking is right here at Immacolata!  Because they had to order in bulk quantity, there is Sally Foster cookie dough still available in all flavors!  You can buy it for $12/tub, $14/break & bake, or get a real deal for any 3/$30!  Those dedicated Sally Foster volunteers will be selling after this weekend’s Masses or you can call Debbie Tonn (989-9814) and order up what you need.  It couldn’t be easier!

The Immacolata Athletic Association will have an open meeting next week, Tues, Nov. 18 at 7PM in the cafeteria.  All adults are welcome to come.  For details, call Michelle Unterberg (961-8581).  Come and join the fun!

Be sure to fill out your Advent by Candlelight form.  What a wonderful way to center yourself during the holiday season—and just with the girls!  While the event is free, reservations are needed.  Contact Mary Rhodes at domermary-advent@yahoo.com  or 994-7131 by Fri, Nov. 28.
