Immacolata School - Wednesday Envelope

Wednesday, September 1, 2010

Get your reading glasses and a glass of tea because there is beaucoup info in Make A Note this week.  Don't forget your planner!

Those fat envelopes containing Innisbrook Gift Wrap Catalogs come home today!  This fundraiser starts today and ends Wed, Sept. 15th.   Stock up on magazines, gifts and, of course, birthday & Christmas gift wrap.  Call Debbie Tonn (989-9814) or Izabela Genovese (989-1660) if you have questions.  Help Immacolata & yourself...sounds like a win-win situation!

Immacolata has such wonderful community spirit!  Be sure to look through the flyers for VOLUNTEER opportunities to help out the school and become an active participant in the community.  Your kids will think you are awesome; they really will!  Contact Katie Schenk at km_schenk@msn.com to volunteer your time & talent!

Soccer season is here.  If you ordered a uniform or need to fill in a missing item, uniforms will be available Fri, Sept 3 from 8-9:15AM in the school cafeteria.  Jerseys are $30, shorts are $13, & socks are $7. Games start after Labor Day.  Go Immacolata!

Mothers of Young Children (known as MOYC) will have their monthly playdate at DeMun Park at 9:30AM on Wed, Sept 8.  All parents of preschool aged children are welcome to come for a morning of fresh air, kid time, & adult conversation all in one. Questions?  Contact Adele Chehval (963-6340 or a.chehval@gmail.com) or Kate Eichhorn (647-2309 katerx1999@yahoo.com).

Immacolata Cub Scout Night is Thurs, Sept 9 at 7PM in the school cafeteria.  School is so busy, but for boys in Grades 1-5, scouting is well worth joining.  Come & see the fun as boys and their parents learn how scouting benefits boys. Many leaders in all walks of life belonged to Cub Scouts.  Call Robert Dennis (863-8980) if you need more information.

The Immacolata Soccer fields are in prime condition and ready to host the 13 games to be played on Sat, Sept. 11.  The IAA Soccer Committee is sponsoring a BBQ on Sat, Sept. 11 and will dish up donuts, hot dogs, brats, drinks & snacks for sale from 9AM-4PM.  Come on out and cheer for the Blue & White and support our athletic program!  Mmm, I can smell those brats now!

Ladies, life has been so hectic for the last couple of weeks with getting our little angels geared up and settled into school.  Now is the time for you to be nice to yourself.  No, it isn't the spa, but something more nourishing and sustaining.  RSVP for Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) on September 11-12 at Immacolata.  There is nothing like a retreat to help regain perspective and find fellow ship (womenship?) in the journey of your life.  Please contact Nancy Akins or Tricia Peckham for more info.

Wednesday Envelope

Welcome to our Wednesday Envelope page.  We will be updating this page for the 2010 - 2011 school year every Wednesday, starting September 1, 2010.

In the mentime, here's the last Wednesday Envelope from our  2009 - 2010 school year so you can read what this page is all about.

Wednesday May 26, 2010

Only 1 day left of the 2009-2010 school year!  Thanks to all who used Make A Note to send information to the general school community.  There are a few "To Do" items this week, still, as well as some fun FYI things.  Mark your calendars and have a safe and fun summer.

Congratulations to all the 8th Graders for completing 9 years of primary education.  Best wishes for success in your high school journey.  You will be missed.

Our Track Team did a great job in the finals!  Two of the younger athletes were in the Top 6!  In addition, several school records were broken.  The weather was cold and rainy during the entire meet so all the kids who ran & jumped are devoted and amazing athletes.

The T-shirt orders for the 2010-2011 8th Grade are due tomorrow, Thurs, May 27.  They can wear these T-shirts all year with their uniform.  Call Sheila Welge (997-6436) with questions.  They will rule the school in these T-shirts!

With our last adventure in the world of lice, one parent has offered an alternative to the old Nix standby.  Consider LiceBGone as an effective & gentle treatment that is marketed as an organic & green product.

Late but fun FYI:  Summer is here and good eating habits are crucial.  Keep in mind those strawberries your precious little ones sampled about 10 days ago have high levels of vitamin C, fiber, folate & potassium, even more that bananas, apples, & oranges!  You can pick your own at Thies Farm through May.  Call 314-469-7559 for availability of produce.  Keep the momentum going!  How about a bowl of fruit over cookies?  Okay, maybe a little chocolate dipped strawberry instead of a cookie?

Be sure to check that Lost & Found in the Cafeteria.  All items left behind will be donated to a local charity.

Vacation Bible School is June 14-18 from9AM-12Noon for kids aged 4 through 4th Gr.  If you haven't signed up yet, this is your last reminder! Any questions,  Sr. Diane (314-991-5700,x303 or dschlueter@immacolata.org).

Save the Date:  Children of all ages from 6-100 are invited to Immacolata Family Movie Night on Sun, June 13 at 6:30 PM in room 201.  "The Gods Must Be Crazy" is the featured film.  Popcorn, juice boxes & water will be provided.  For more info, contact Betty Rataj (727-4827).  Come and join the fun!

Mark the calendar:  The Ladies Society Golf Tournament & Dinner is Sat, Aug. 28.  Golf is at Forest Park and dinner is at the Fitzmire home.  Sounds like an event you can't miss!  Look for details in the July mailing.

Don't forget the CHRP retreat!  The Retreat is scheduled Sept. 11-12 at Immacolata and provides an opportunity to reflect, pray, grow & meet others in the Immacolata community.  Contact Nancy Akins or Tricia Peckham.

For those who gave their lives so we may live as we do today, please remember their sacrifice.  Immacolata will have a 9AM Mass on Mon, May 31, Memorial Day. Fr. Anthony Ochoa, who some of your children will remember from school, will celebrate Mass.   After Mass, the Marine Corps will have a flag-raising ceremony in front of the school.  What a great way to show your children how to honor those in who gave so much.

Server availability forms & new server camp forms will be due soon.  Please turn them in now!

Did you know? – The good news about our alums keeps coming.  Pat Cantwell will serve as an officer on the Student Council at CBC during the upcoming year.  Annie Herr and Emily Behr are members of Nerinx Hall’s Lacrosse State Championship team.  Emily was also selected Athlete of the Week by KSDK and the Post-Dispatch.  Outstanding!

As a parting farewell gift from Immacolata, you may keep your attractive & invaluable Wed.  Envelopes!Have great summer and see y'all in the fall!
