Immacolata School - Wednesday Envelope

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

The Make A Note has lots in information this week, so take a  break with your favorite beverage and learn what is going on at school!

Thank you to all who have returned the survey for our school improvement process. Our committee of 21 teachers and parents will begin work next week. If you still haven't filled out your survey and would like to have some input into our school's future plans, we're extending the deadline until next Monday, March 15th. If you would like the online version, please email slatragna@immacolata.org. Now's your chance!

Congratulations to Tom Havrilka, the 2010 Silver Bell Tower Award recipient and to Sam Latragna, the 2010 Gold Bell Tower Award recipient. I can't think of two more deserving people! Their hard work and dedication are seen in so many places.

Also, congratulations to all that participated in the
Equations competition on Tues. & today. Immacolata is one the few schools who allow anyone who wants to participate to play, instead of teams of top Math students. Do you know why? Because Immacolata is filled with top notch students!

The 8th Gr. is sponsoring the "wearing of the green" on St. Patrick's Day, Wed, March 17. For a donation of a $1, students may wear green IN ADDITION TO THEIR SCHOOL UNIFORM. Hence, it is NOT a free dress day, but a day of imaginative additions. The proceeds will go to the 8th Gr. mystery trip. So, watch out for leprechauns!

B27....G42....N7....Yes, the Ladies Society invites all
ladies and gents for an evening of BINGO on Thurs, March 18 in the school cafeteria. Beer, wine, & soda will be available as well as  tons of fun with friends and family. Please bring a snack to share. And bring a friend to share in the parish fun. Doors open at 6:30PM and games begin at 7PM. RSVP to Liz Gallagher at egallagher21@yahoo.com or 962-4830.

Spring Pictures have arrived! Packets went home today with
your children. The procedure for Spring Pictures is different than  the School Pictures earlier this year. Please review the packet and decide if you want any or all the pictures, then send a check made payable to “Lifetouch” for the proper amount and remaining pictures.  If you do not wish to purchase any pictures, please return the entire packet.

Plan on attending the first annual Mary McDermott Memorial 3rd Grade Basketball Tournament. First round games begin this weekend, Friday night and Saturday. The tournament concludes next weekend, the 20th and 21st.

The April hot lunch menu and order form are now online.
Orders & money are due by Mon, March 22. Please note any field trips  that show up in that time frame and affect your order. Contact Peggy Luber (peggyluber@att.net or 432-6271) with any questions. Wow, the year is going by so fast!

Mark your Calendar again: The St. Vincent de Paul Trivia Night is  scheduled on Fri, April 16th with food, fun & prizes! It will be a great evening with great friends for a great cause. Contact Rosie Cowlen (993-2330) or Genie Wilhelm (968-0439) to volunteer or donate any prizes or money. Start getting your table together now!

Lastly, don't forget that Sunday is the beginning of Daylight Savings Time. That means you set your clocks forward one hour. What that really means is that you have to get up earlier every day.

Slowly, but surely, Spring will come?  Slowly, but surely, Sr. Diane is making her recovery.  Be sure to say "hi" when you see her in the halls or in the church.  We sure have missed her smiles!

Gentle Reminder:   Registration is now due for the 2010-2011 school year.  This helps determine class size and their needs for next year.  Please turn them ASAP!

This Friday is the 6th Gr. Friday Night Lights as our athletes take to the court again.  Be sure to come as this is the next to last.  Next week, Fri, March 5 will be the last one with the 8th Gr. playing and the Silver & Gold Bell Tower Awards presented along with the raising of the 2009 banners.  There have been many exciting games, such as double overtime last week, and a general community togetherness on the bleachers, on the stage, and, of course, in the choir loft (adults only).  Come and cheer the blue!

As basketball winds down, now is the time to gather groups together or practice that special song, dance or routine for the Annual Immacolata Talent Show on Fri, March 26.  Details to follow.  Immacolata's got talent!  Can we get David Hasselhoff to come?

Request from our Art Department for upcoming projects:  If you have yarn or string that you would like to donate for upcoming weaving projects, please send them to Mrs. Warmke, or contact her at lwarmke@immacolata.org.

Ladies, no one has come away wishing they hadn't taken part in the Christ Renews His Parish Retreat, scheduled for this coming March 6-7 at Immacolata.  This is a good time to reflect and give a little to yourself in a ladies only environment before launching into Spring Break & Easter. You know there will laughter and community along with that reflection.  Pick up a brochure in the back of the church or contact Tricia Peckham (tricia.peckham@xerox.com or 961-9211) or Bea Wehrmann (candbwehr@hotmail.com or 962-3272).              Did You Know?  March is National Nutrition Month!  It is always a good time to start eating properly!  Be sure to read the flyer coming home in the Wed. Envelope this week.
