Who we are:
The Immacolata Parish Respect Life Committee is made up of men, women, young adults and high schoolers who have a strong commitment to the respect of all human life. As an extension of the Archdiocesan Respect Life Apostolate, we work to promote and defend human dignity through prayerful, committed action in four major areas:
- Education—to deepen others’ understanding of the sanctity of human life and the humanity of unborn children and the moral evil of intentionally killing innocent human beings-at life’s beginning or at its end.
- Pastoral Care—providing emotional support, counseling, material and spiritual aid for those experiencing pregnancy related problems and for all those who have been affected by abortion; for the disabled, sick, and dying and their families
- Public Policy—efforts directed at restoring legal protection to the lives of unborn children and those vulnerable to pressures to end their lives by assisted suicide, provide morally acceptable alternatives to abortion and assisted suicide.
- Spirituality—directed to participation in the sacramental life of the Church and in programs of communal and individual prayer, that the culture of death that surrounds us today will be replaced by a culture of life and love.
Activities of our Committee:
In addition to the many events, Masses, and communications sponsored by the Respect Life Apostolate, we also take part in these programs at our parish:
"40 Days for Life"; "Baby Bottle Brigade"; Family Rosary; Roses for Expectant Mothers; Mother’s Day Cards and collections for BirthRight; Spiritual Adoption; Right Start & Essay Contest for 8th graders; Lemonade for Life; and other collections for those in need.
