  • Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words
  • Recognize and read grade-appropriate irregularly spelled words
  • Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension
  • Read grade-level text orally with accuracy, appropriate rate, and expression on successive reading
  • Demonstrate understanding of key details in a text
  • Describe overall structure of a story
  •  Know and use various text features to locate key facts or information in a non-fiction text
  • Read and use the grade-level word wall and high frequency words
  • Understand word meaning by using various strategies
  • Identify and use grade-level vocabulary words
  • Work well with a partner or group during Daily 5
  • Chooses appropriate level books and reads independently for 20 min daily to increase vocabulary, concepts, and reading stamina
